I'm currently gathering the components to make an Arduino-powered weatherstation. Currently, I plan to measure temperature, barometric pressure, and relative humidity. One Ardiuno will sit outside, preferably near an outlet and measure and transmit weather data via a 433 MHz transmitter. The second Arduino will have a 433 MHz receiver and will receive the first Arduino's weather data, displaying real-time stats.
I haven't decided whether I want the second Arduino to host a webserver or to just have an LCD display. I'm leaning toward just the LCD display for now. I can always add an Ethernet shield to it later.
Anyhow, here's the current parts list:
- Two SparkFun RedBoards
- Two 433 MHz transmitters
- Two 433 MHz receivers
- Temperature/relative humidity sensor
- Barometric pressure sensor
- Mini breadboard
- Resistors, wire, USB cables
I'm ordering two of numbers 2 and 3 because I eventually want to have the units communicate with each other. To keep things easy at first, I'll keep the transmission simplex.
I really hope the Dealextreme sensors aren't horrible. We'll see--at least they're cheap.
